What Have I Done?

Thanks to having a mother and grandmother who are quite proficient at sewing, this baby I'm incubating will have more clothes than she knows what to do with. I made her two outfits last week with fabric I bought on the discount table at the fabric store. I had the best of intentions. What I really wanted was to save money while making sure my daughter has enough clothes to cover her cute baby skin. The result was different than I'd hoped.

Instead of achieving the pinnacle of darling baby outfits, I got a nasty surprise. I didn't realize it until I was finished. Perhaps, if I had added more embellishment like it shows in the picture I would have had more luck. When I held the top and pantaloons together for the first time, this is what I saw:
I turned my baby into a...pioneer girl. The shame is almost too great to bear. Luckily, there was enough fabric left over for me to make the world's cutest baby hat.
If I had made a bonnet to go with the outfit I don't think I could have forgiven myself.

LOVE the hat.
So cute!
This is why I always wanted a girl.
I don't think she's gonna be Laura Ingalls in that outfit, she'll be adorable.
