Day of Love

Eric and I spent our Valentine's Day laid back style: at home with the girls.  February 14 is a significant date for us because it's the anniversary of the day we were engaged.  Do we celebrate it?...no, not really.  I don't know why.  It's just one of those things we've never done.  We talked about how we're so happy we're on the same page about so many things.  It's one of the many reasons we're so perfect for one another.  You know what we got each other as gifts?  I got Eric a week's supply of new socks and he got me two dozen chocolate chip cookies from The Chocolate (to be shared with him and the girls, of course).  Sigh.  I love that man.

Most of the celebration happened with the girls.  I put them in matching red dresses and styled Ellie's hair like this.  Ellie and Maya opened their Valentine gifts and cards from G&G Cottam and I told both girls how much I loved them.  That was pretty much the extent of it.  We went to Walmart to pick up a few things and enjoyed watching the horde of disappointed-faced men as they clustered around the display of half dead flowers.  I'm thinking they realized they didn't want to give their wives brown roses.  That's all that's left at 5 pm on Valentine's Day.

One of the highlights of my day was receiving my package from Sephora.  Makeup is my new hobby.  It's a weird hobby, but I'm liking it.  One of the eyeshadows in the package is red.  I decided I could probably get away with red on Valentine's Day, so I wore it.  And I rocked it.  The picture was taken about 8 hours after I applied the eyeshadow so it's not as fresh as it was, but you get the idea.  It was awesome.

Dinner was Cheeseburger Joe's with cookies for dessert.  Poor Maya had to wait until that was in my breast milk before she got a taste.  Next year, baby girl.  I think she still loves me, though.  She gave me a kiss on the cheek for her first Valentine's Day.  It wasn't staged at all...

I didn't realize until I was uploading the pictures that I didn't take any pictures with Eric.  He's not usually excited to be in front of a camera.  So the most recent picture I have of my sweetie and me together is the couple picture we had taken when we were in for extended family pictures.  He's so handsome.  I'm lucky I get to be with him forever and ever amen.
