My dad is back in the hospital again today. He is currently being admitted, although Mom said things look good. Even though they admitted him to the ICU. I had no idea there were going to be such frequent visits to the hospital. Once again, please keep him in your prayers.
I was asked to teach part of the 5th Sunday lesson today. The general topic was about being spiritually prepared for the coming times. My specific topic was on how Sunday worship helps prepare us for times of trial. On Thanksgiving I asked my parents for their thoughts, as I figured the bypass operation and return trip to the hospital gave them a unique perspective.
Mom said we learn things at church that we don't always learn other places, like compassion. Dad said that it helps us to strengthen our testimonies of the power of the Atonement. He went on to say that the Atonement is not just for the cleansing of our sins, but to help us as we pass through trials. This is a lesson I have learned many times over. Knowing that have a loving Savior who has experienced our trials and afflictions helps us to know that we can overcome. We also know that there is someone we can turn to who knows how to succor us.
I am so grateful for the cleansing and strengthening power of the Atonement. I know that trough Christ we can do all things we are called upon to do and pass through any trial given to us, no matter how unpleasant. We just need to turn to Him for support rather than turning away and leaning only on ourselves. I know my dad, my mom, my family, and I can all pass through this if we turn to the Lord.
